The project of a small confectionery on Petrogradskaya side was implemented in January 2021. It has replaced a pastry shop whose owners initiated the refurbishment: they wanted to convert the store into a coffee shop and preserve the existing open kitchen.
The modest project budget determined several solutions and turned the color into the main design tool that defined the mood of the new interior. The choice of terracotta was immediate, yet reasonable: the warm and saturated color compensates for the lack of sunlight, since the confectionery overlooks a tiny dimm courtyard.
The color also works as the space zoning medium: the kitchen area is left completely white, while the hall and furniture are of matching terracotta tones. Despite its small area, the space accommodates 3 seating zones: free-standing tables and chairs in the center, a common bench at the end of the room and a single tabletop with half-bar stools alongside the windows.
Lacking any excessive decorations, the interior is marked by a long narrow mirror — a nostalgic object typical for the aesthetics of Soviet cafeterias. The chosen furniture was designed and manufactured by the local studio Delo Design.
